In August 2011, industry-leading men’s fashion accessory site, Brighterman.com, approached me with the idea of compiling an editorial guide to be featured as part of their homepage layout. With such an emphasis placed on colour for the S/S season, the result was the following guide, aiming to alert men of ways to carry the trend through to A/W.

“After a pallid, anaemic display of wardrobe attrition – one that has taken the best part of a decade to put right – men are finally keen to pay reverence to their sin.
I’m not quite sure when it happened. It got to a point – some time in the past few years – when it was at its most noticeably worst; when sporting a coloured neckerchief or giving way to a paisley pocket square was seen as simply uncouth. Men found themselves gravitating towards a rather abrupt, unceremonious, almost impolite abandonment of chroma. More fool them.
At last, we’ve acquired a convivial attitude when it comes to style. We want to dress, and we want to impress (perhaps that’s where the old, hackneyed term stems from.)
No dividends will be paid for flouncing in the direction of an iridescent neglection. This is the how to. How to fold, knot, slip, slide, wrap, strap and pull your way towards colour, with gusto!
