FashionBeans x Burton - Blogger Choice: SS13
Ever the curators of fine menswear, Burton played host to four of the Internet’s nattiest dressers for the launch of the ‘Blogger’s Choice’ editorial.
Framed by the backdrop of London’s iconic Marylebone, the #BurtonBloggers project was a tour de force of style made up of editors from across the front row of menswear.
I was invited along to Burton HQ to offer my own spring/summer wardrobe edit.
Shot by Elle, Grazia and NY mag ‘The Cut’ contributor Victoria Adamson, the photo editorial has a street style appeal; marrying the clean cut lines of sartorialism with the rough edges of one of London’s best locations.Click the image to view the full feature.

Lyle and Scott Digital Fashion Internship
Working directly under the e-commerce team, the Lyle and Scott digital fashion internship provides the skills for a creative, strategic, innovative and commercial role.
During my time with Lyle and Scott I gained valuable insight into commercial content creation, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, G+ etc), SEO (search engine optimisation), PPC (pay per click), web analytics and affiliate marketing.
The digital fashion internship highlighted the more technical aspects that pull creativity into a commercial, business savvy context.

London Collections Men 2012 - Hackett London SS13
Following on from our meeting at the Oxford x Cambridge Boat Race, I was honoured to be invited to attend Hackett’s first ever showing in a fashion week setting at London Collections: Men.Having been granted a seated position, I sat among industry names from GQ, Esquire, Mr Porter and various menswear authorities. Following the show I produced an editorial summary of the event in association with the Hackett menswear team which I was later told was very well received by the Jeremy Hackett himself.

Luke Todd x Jeremy Hackett Question and Answer Session
In April 2012, I was honoured to be called to spend the day with Jeremy Hackett at the Xchange Oxford-Cambride Boat Race at London’s Rowing Club. Following the time spent atop the Hackett room balcony, I conducted a question and answer session with the man who founded the eponymous label on the “wrong end” of King’s Road three decades ago.
The encounter established a continued friendship with the brand and its colleagues and led to a seated invitation to their fashion week debut at London Collections: Men 2012.
From Clifton to cloth, Bristol’s most achieved Saturday boy talks Queen, country and letting dogs take the lead.

Interview with Troy Munns, Head of Menswear at My-Wardrobe.com
As part of an ongoing partnership with My-Wardrobe.com, the idea to profile the brand’s head of menswear was proposed to the FashionBeans editorial team. Having taken the lead in producing the editorial, the piece quickly turned into a in-depth interview feature.I worked with Troy, and the My-Wardrobe team, at all levels of interviewing, production, design and publishing to create a feature both sites were proud of. Soon after the completion of the interview Troy commented:
"I have now worked with Luke on and off since 2009, but more recently he interviewed me for Fashionbeans in my role of Head of Menswear. Luke as an interviewer was thorough while remaining true to the Fashionbeans brand, and his flexible writing skills mean he can write relevant to his audience. His copy translates both on and offline, and I see a great future in men’s fashion editorial for him!"Click the image to view the full feature.

Luke Todd for Brighterman.com
In August 2011, industry-leading men’s fashion accessory site, Brighterman.com, approached me with the idea of compiling an editorial guide to be featured as part of their homepage layout. With such an emphasis placed on colour for the S/S season, the result was the following guide, aiming to alert men of ways to carry the trend through to A/W.
Click the image to view the full feature.
"After a pallid, anaemic display of wardrobe attrition – one that has taken the best part of a decade to put right – men are finally keen to pay reverence to their sin.
I’m not quite sure when it happened. It got to a point – some time in the past few years – when it was at its most noticeably worst; when sporting a coloured neckerchief or giving way to a paisley pocket square was seen as simply uncouth. Men found themselves gravitating towards a rather abrupt, unceremonious, almost impolite abandonment of chroma. More fool them.
At last, we’ve acquired a convivial attitude when it comes to style. We want to dress, and we want to impress (perhaps that’s where the old, hackneyed term stems from.)
No dividends will be paid for flouncing in the direction of an iridescent neglection. This is the how to. How to fold, knot, slip, slide, wrap, strap and pull your way towards colour, with gusto!
Luke.”

Topman Fragrance Launch
Invited by Topman’s senior press officer, Gemma Boner, I attended the launch party for their brand new fragrances 16 & 27. Held at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) the night included exclusive DJ sets, complimentary canapes, drinks and even scented key notes providing attendees with a real smell for the ingredients within each eau de parfum.
Both fragrances are released on the 22nd September in Topman’s flagship Oxford Circus store and Selfridges, then soon after in select UK stores, including Boots.

"However in honesty the detestable trait of any is a lack of humility. It is the unassuming nature and not the pomposity of the implied song and dance that offers the label ‘gentleman’."
